The Dress

Gorgeous Vera Wang fit & flare wedding dress ideal for petite brides! Perfect for those who are looking for a classy dress with a modern twist. This was absolutely my dream dress and is rare in that it was incredibly comfortable to wear and move in. Did not feel bulky or heavy at all although the flare creates a lovely silhouette and adds a good dose of drama without the fuss. Catches the light beautifully (refer to the shot where I'm going up the bus stairs) and earned many, many compliments from guests!

Dress has no tears.

Measurements:
Bust: 32"
Waist: 25.5"
Hips: 32" (but the dress is very accommodating on wider measurements)

Other details:
- Dress size: label says US size 0 as dress was flown in from America. Effectively a UK size 4.

- Satin bodice with asymmetrical folds that conveniently hides all those imperfections

- Overall, dress has lots of give and I was very comfortable moving/sitting down throughout the day

- Full tulle skirt with, true to Vera Wang style, layers and layers of gorgeous fabric (6 layers, to be precise)

I found out the hard way that this dress is one of those tricky items that is better to buy pre-loved than brand new. When I bought this dress (new) from the bridal shop, I realised that there was a common construction flaw right at the top band of the dress, near the arms, where the fabric is folded and tucked in a way that makes you look like you're wearing a very lacy/bumpy bra! It took 9 months and 4 versions of this dress before the bridal shop (a very established one) managed to get one that had a less-pronounced problem. I was still worried that the issue would show up in the photos, so I took the dress to my seamstress, who painstakingly added two extra layers of fabric beneath the top band (on the inside, of course, and using fabric from the dress itself) and as you can see from the photos, the bumpiness has completely gone away. The cost to fix this wasn't cheap but it was well worth it as it unleashed the full potential of the dress.

A real shame to let it go as it was part of a magical day but since I won't be needing it anymore, figured it's better to let someone else have their beautiful day in it. For ease of transaction, London/UK buyers only please (shipping overseas would be prohibitive, from experience).

Note: I'd used a petticoat/underskirt that I'd bought separately to create more flare and it worked beautifully. Happy to add this as a free gift for whoever's buying the dress.
