The Dress
Antique white silk modal mikado Jenny Yoo gown featuring a sweetheart neckline with a slight cowl drape, which reveals a beaded bodice, adding detail and subtle sparkle. The fitted silhouette adds drama and glamour, creating a modern and sleek look from every angle. The back of the dress features a dramatic sash/bow detail which has been removed/ altered and repurposed as an elegant dinner shawl! The dress is fully lined, with a center back zipper. Jenny Yoo Remi Dress, 2014 Collection, Style #1470B.
This stunning, shimmery, Old Hollywood glamour style dress has been Re-Designed from an A-line to a TRUMPET style for a slightly sexy, more form-flattering, feminine fit! The fabric has a lovely sheen to it. I am 5ft. 4.5inches in height and wore very tall heels (6 inches with a slight platform) and we made it so that the skirt flare begins just above the knee (so that walking, sitting, dancing is still possible). The dress was a Trunk Show sample purchased in New York at the Sample Room and while it says "Size 10", I took in and changed the silhouette to fit my street size 2 figure. Therefore, this is roughly now a Bridal Size 6. My exact measurements are Bust 34C, Natural Waist 26, Hips 35, Weight 118lbs. It is in great shape!
*Other modifications include a custom bustle ties & snaps (color coordinated thread so that you can see which ties belong to which snap) and we created a smaller skirt circle so that when bustled, the skirt is on the floor in a small circle but is not as full as when the chapel length train is down; also, my seamstress added cups to the bust in the dress to give the top some extra stability- it was not necessary for me to wear a bra and I felt snug and firmly in place all night; also, we contoured the top beading and fabric draping to create a more definitive sweetheart shape; lastly, as I mentioned in the dress description, we removed the bow from the back of the dress to create a modern, clean look and removed the bow and altered it to become one long shawl- perfect for wrapping around the shoulders at dinner.
*I've reduced this to $1199.00 which is nearly half of what I spent! My costs were as follows: 1) $1585.00 for the dress, 2) $350.00 in alterations, and 3) $210.00 to professionally dry clean the gown (expenditures came out to $2,145.00 and the dress is in very good condition). My original receipt is in tact as proof of purchase. The dress is hanging in the dry cleaner's zip-up garment bag.
*There are a few tiny rhinestones that have come out of the top beading in the dress- I had my seamstress add a few back in after I purchased the dress as a few were missing at that time, but this was an easy fix and will not be a costly thing for either you or your seamstress to do. I felt absolutely magical while wearing this dress and I hope that someone else will enjoy it as much as I did! Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me as I am happy to answer any questions that you may have :).
