The Dress

Vintage Designer's Guild (Continental Couture Ltd) deep ivory wedding dress purchased from Fenwicks, London, in 1979. It was my mother's dress and I intended to wear it for my own wedding, but the season was not right.

The style is unique and the cut is flattering - the long sleeves are perfect for a winter/fall/spring wedding, and give it a floaty, bohemian feel. Features include a 70's style handkerchief skirt; white lace detail on cuffs, neck, back and skirt; and ribbon around waist. Material is a light thin polyester with lining from chest downwards (not in the arms). Skirt is floor length and slightly longer at the back.

Comes with a petticoat and simple ivory veil (36'' long). The length of the veil allows the back of the dress to be seen, which has intricate lace detail.

The dress is in good condition, with only minor blemishes and snags on the back lower skirt (see picture). It has NOT been dry cleaned, and the blemishes will come out. The creasing of the underskirt will also fall out - the dress has been folded in a box for some time.

Measurements:

Shoulder to waist (belt) is 15''. Waist is 28'' (but fits smaller as it is a loose fit, gathered tighter by the belt). Bust fits max 38'' (again it is a loose style that falls over the bust). Inside arm is 20'' long. Skirt is 44'' from waist in the front and 56'' in the back.
