The Dress

A timeless backless silk dress, from the French designer Delphine Manivet. This is the Hyppolite 2016 dress, purchased from The Mews in Notting Hill. The dress is a light ivory silk. The dress feels very light to wear, but the three layers of fabric mean that the skirt falls in a slim a-line shape with a lovely puddle train.

I wore this for my wedding abroad in July, I loved wearing it and it worked really well for our simple outdoor wedding by the beach. The weather was dry, and I changed into another dress for the dancing, so the dress is in very good condition. I had the dress professionally dry cleaned after the wedding.

I had the length of the dress taken up at the front with invisible hand stitching - I am 5"8 and wore flat sandals. As I knew I wanted to sell the dress, I asked for the stitches to be reversible and paid more for the stitching to be done by hand. The stitches can be taken out and the full unaltered length (several inches) could be let down again very easily. My seamstress has offered to do this for a minimal charge.
