The Dress

This is the classic Vera Wang silhouette that she uses in her Bridal Collection and her Ballgown Collection. It is a strapless, modified mermaid gown with full length multi-layered ruffle tiers. The tiers are narrower/closer together along the bodice, and then wider/farther apart down the rest of the dress. It is what I would call a soft ivory color. I wore it in October at a New England seaside wedding, but you could wear it any season.

I am 5'7", and I wore Stuart Weitzman ballet flats. I am not typically comfortable in strapless dresses, but this was so comfortable and fit so well that I never worried about it being strapless even when I was dancing. I didn't fuss with it or pull it up at all during the evening. The bra/corset that is sewn in is for a 36B, which is my true bra size. It has three different hooks, and I hooked it on the loosest one. The corset was very comfortable, and I never really noticed it once I was strapped in.

The dress has a short train that really looks beautiful walking down the aisle, and it can be very easily bustled with a string and loop system that is numbered. It looked very natural when it was bustled; it did not seem like a lot of excess fabric.

I had about 1/4" taken in on each side just at the bust level.
