The Dress

I bought this used dress but have since changed my mind. This dress is the ivory/harvest colour and as beautiful as it is, I just want a more traditional white or ivory dress with more of a dramatic and sheer train.

This is a truly stunning dress with gorgeous all over floral lace. When I first saw the dress in person and tried it on it honestly took my breath away. The detail is amazing and overall the dress is very glamorous and classy with a manageable train, but still sexy with the very low back. It’s very lightweight to wear so would suit any wedding venue or even just could be worn as a reception dress.

IT DOES REQUIRE SOME MINOR ATTENTION AND TLC FROM A DRESSMAKER DOWN THE SIDE SEAMS AND HEMLINE, BUT PRETTY MUCH ALL WILL BE FIXED WITH ‘NORMAL’ ALTERATIONS.

IT IS STILL LIKE NEW EVERYWHERE ELSE AND IN LOVELY CLEAN CONDITION. STORED SAFELY UPSTAIRS IN MY WARDROBE IN A DRESS BAG. SMOKE FREE HOUSE AND OUR DOG ISN’T ALLOWED UPSTAIRS SO PET FREE TOO.

It has previously been altered but they haven’t been done to a good standard. The lace was coming off the front and back of the dress near both side seams and there are some very tiny holes in the tulle mainly along the side seams - easily fixable, or could even be left as is since they wouldn’t be seen with the lace covering them and if having the dress taken in this won’t be an issue at all. Also padded bust cups have been added and the length was taken up to a MAX HEIGHT OF 5FT 3/5FT 4. Whilst checking the dress over again due to enquiries, I have noticed that the lace isn’t attached to the lining at the bottom of the side seams like it’s supposed to be so this will need repairing. There is also a working bustle.

I would recommend this for a bride to be who’s a size UK 8-12 then to have the dress taken in and tailored to fit you. It is currently a UK14. The measurements are bust 38” waist 31” hips 40” H2H 53.5”

I did have a dressmaker start altering and doing repair work on this dress so lots of the lace appliqués along the side seams have been unstitched (all the lace taken off has been kept safely in an airtight bag and obviously will be included with the sale) and she also began unstitching the hemline which was poorly taken up and needed re doing.

I have been asked how much I was quoted for these repairs and alterations for it to fit me. My measurements are bust 33” waist 27” hips 35” H2H 52” and I needed it taking in all the way down, the straps shortening, swapping the bust cups for smaller ones, add clear sequins to the dress and the repairs to be taken care of I was quoted £130 but it does obviously vary.
