The Dress
Porter Lace sample dress from Andrea Hawkes' 'Reflection' collection. Lace bodice with heavy satin skirt that has a short train and a front slit up to the knee. Bought for a 2021 wedding which had to be postponed due to Covid and the dress didn't suit the new date/plan.
Alterations
The dress has been hemmed, the front slit has been partly closed (it was previously mid-thigh, now knee-high) and a looped white ribbon has been attached to the end of the train - it fits around your wrist so you can hold the train off the ground while walking. The buttons that fasten at the nape of the neck have been reinforced with a backing made of offcuts from hemming the skirt (they were originally sewn directly onto the delicate lace back).
